What is the BHSA?
The BHSA is a registered charity which was created to bring the Blackheath High School community together whilst fundraising for various school enhancement initiatives. This includes all students, parents and teachers of both the Junior and Senior schools.
We have two main goals:
-
To socialise and build a strong school community
-
To raise money for items to be enjoyed by the students at school.
The BHSA works in close partnership with the school, the school recognises the BHSA is of great importance in strengthening the community spirit. We take this part of our role seriously, creating and curating a series of events that bring the school community together throughout the academic year.
How are the funds used
The profits we raise from BHSA activities are intended to be spent on BHS initiatives which enhance the student experience and enrich the educational, emotional and physical elements of the school’s offer. This is managed through ‘Bids,’ which are made by the school to the charity, where is it has identified there is a need for support from the BHSA. The parent group votes on these bids and, if successful, the funds are made available to the school.
How is the BHSA resourced:
The BHSA is entirely run by volunteer parents who are usually busy with their careers, their family, and life in general; a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone that supports the BHSA.
